Prominent ears constitute one of the most common deformities of the ear flap. Generally it has bilateral presence and in two third of the cases there is a positive family history for this problem.

The moment for the surgery in children should be around 5-6 years when the full growth of the ear flap is completed or even before if the parents are uneasy because of the evidence of his deformity. In children the procedure is made under general anesthesia while in youngsters or adults it can be carried under local anesthesia.

It is important to point about the need of a headband during some days or even some months according to the technique employed in the surgery.
