The increase of breasts with prostheses filled with silicone gel can be considered the aesthetic surgery most frequently used now. The prostheses can be placed through different ways; the most frequently used is the periareolar way (in the outside margin of the areola) or the inframammary way (in the groove formed underneath the breast).
These prostheses can be placed before or behind the pectoral muscle as well, according to the case and following the recommendations of the surgeon. This is a surgery generally carried out under general anesthesia, in some cases local anesthesia can be used according to how well the surgeon knows this method and in anyone of the above options, it is an outpatient surgery. |
